Forgings created by this shaving-forging method have exceptionally high strength and toughness compared with products by other manufacturing methods such as cutting, casting, or welding because the fiber flow is continuous from the metallurgical viewpoint and because they have a uniform refined structure.

Complicated shapes which cannot be forged by conventional methods are easily forged by TAKAKO's unique shaving-forging method.

• Taper is zero -- No pattern draft necessary.
• Surface roughness is in the range of Ra1.5 to Ra3.
• Dimensional accuracy is greater than 0.1 mm (.004 in). (Actual test results show an accuracy in the range of 0.03 to 0.05 mm (.001 to .002 in))
• There is no cut-out section as frequently observed with products created by press processing or fine blanking.
• Forging of small objects weighing as little as .001kg (.002lbs) to larger items up to 5kb (10lbs) is possible.

Forging of any material is possible, including SS (Rolled Steel for General Structure) materials, electromagnetic steel, S15C~S55C (cold Rolled Steel Strips for Springs), SK (Carbon Tool Steels) materials, SCM3~SCM22(Chromium Molybdenum Steels, SU-2 (High Carbon Chromium Bearing Steels), aluminum, brass and stainless steel. We can offer attractive delivery times with our modern in-house facilities (spark erosion, wire cutting, grinders, and machining centers). Though the price is determined based on the shape, it is approximately 1/4 of that of fine blanking and only half of ordinary molding.
